Mit der Serie METER MOFA MAGMA untersuche ich, wie das Schweigen einer von Kriegs- und Nachkriegszeit geprägten GeneraBon lesbar gemacht werden kann. Ausgangspunkt ist meine Familiengeschichte, die von der langjährigen Depression und den Angstzuständen meines Vaters sowie einer allgegenwärBgen Gesprächsverweigerung besBmmt war. Das Nicht-Ansprechen wurde zum prägenden Bestandteil des familiären Alltags. Die Arbeit versteht sich als Visualisierung eines inneren Dialogs und als Versuch, diese Leerstelle sichtbar zu machen.

In METER MOFA MAGMA transformiere ich rund 1.500 Worte, die mein Vater in den letzten vier Wochen seines Lebens als Antworten in Kreuzworträtseln hinterlassen hat. Ich löse sie aus ihrem ursprünglichen Raster und überführe sie in ein neues Bezugssystem. Die fragilen Kritzel korrelieren mit fotografierten Objekten aus seiner AngelleidenschaV – beides in sich gekehrte Handlungen, die für Rückzug, Abwesenheit und Flucht in geschlossene Systeme stehen. Durch Lichtsetzung, Inszenierung und mehrfaches Überdrucken überlagern sich Wort und Bild palimpsestarBg. Denkmuster und Zeitebenen verschieben sich. Es entstehen Antworten, auf die es keine Fragen gibt.Sabine_MMM_Text d_en_2

With the METER MOFA MAGMA series, I explore how the silence of a generaBon marked by war and post-war Bmes can be made legible. The starBng point is my family history, which was dominated by my father’s long-standing depression and anxiety, as well as an omnipresent refusal to talk. Not talking became a defining feature of everyday family life. The work is intended as a visualizaBon of an inner dialogue and an a^empt to make this void visible.

In METER MOFA MAGMA, I transform around 1,500 words that my father leV behind as answers in crossword puzzles during the last four weeks of his life. I remove them from their original grid and transfer them into a new frame of reference. The fragile scribbles correlate with photographed objects from his passion for fishing—both introverted acBviBes that represent retreat, absence, and escape into closed systems. Through lighBng, staging, and mulBple overprints, words and images overlap like a palimpsest. Pa^erns of thought and levels of Bme shiV. Answers arise for which there are no quesBons.
